Stop thinking and end your problems.
Abandon distinctions: there is no difference.
Say “yes” to this, and “perhaps” to that,
Call this man “good” and that man “evil”–
And then to value what others value?
Other people are excited, like they’re at a parade;
I alone don’t care.
In spring, they go to the park and climb the terrace;
I alone am wandering, without a place to go.
Other people have what they need;
I alone possess nothing.
Other people move so quickly, while I drift about,
Like someone without a home.
I’m like an idiot, my mind is so empty!
Other people shine;
I alone am dark.
Other people are sharp;
I alone am dull.
Other people have a purpose;
I alone don’t know.
I drift like the waves of the sea,
Without direction, like the restless win.
Everyone is so rooted in this world,
Yet I have no place to rest my head.
I do nothing but keep to the origin,
Yet I endure.
