(Sixty-seven through Sixty-nine should be read as a group.)

All the world talks about the Tao
With such familiarity–
What nonsense.
Tao is not found at the market,
Or passed from father to son.
It isn’t gained by knowing,
Or lost by forgetting.
No, if it were like this,
It would have been lost and forgotten
Long ago.

I have just three things to teach:
Love, moderation and humility.
To love and still be fearless,
Moderate and still abundant,
Humble and still holding to the highest,
This is called keeping the Way.

When a soldier is fearless but not loving,
Abundant but still not moderate,
The highest but still not humble,
He is lost to heaven and earth.
