Tao is like water.
The form changes, the form remains.
The hard and strong cannot withstand it.
It is weak, it is unequaled;
It is soft, it is undamaged;
It is yielding, it prevails.

It is said, “What is soft overcomes what is hard.”
Why isn’t it practiced?

The smart man remains serene in the midst of sorrow.
He has abandoned helping,
And is our greatest help.

With so much truth,
How can words be true?
