To know the Tao and forget yourself is of the highest.
Next comes loving and praising it,
Then fearing it,
Then despising it.
If one does not trust enough,
How can he be trusted?
The great ruler speaks little, and his words are priceless.
He works much and leaves no trace.
When all is finished,
Men say they are acting alone,
And no ruler is needed.
